Xun

Xun accompanies me sometimes on shootings, to learn the drill… most of the time she just gets bored…

Composition notes: narrow crop on Xun’s left, she is close to some darkness represented by a blacker curtain. Light occupies most space, coming from the opposite, Xun’s right side; she is blessed and protected by it. Her head is turned, peaceful and confident, towards that light, and she lets it bath her. The foreground occupies also a big space, giving depth to the scene, respecting the subject intimacy. We don’t want to disturb whatever is happening…

Xun is close to the darkness, but it doesn’t frighten her, because she knows how to heal herslef from it, now that she learnt more from life…

You can learn more by looking at the lonely object on the sofa: a plastic head of a studio light, which is used to cover it when it’s not used. Symbol of darkness, banishing of the light. Xun symbolically took it off from the light, which is now shining all over her face, embracing her new state of mind. It is far from her reach: she’ll never put it back on, now she knows what it is without it…

You can learn more about her feelings by looking at her hands, the color of her skin, and her feet position…

Symbols are part of our life, and I would think, more powerful than our life itself… In fact, we ARE symbols ourselves! What do you symbolize in the circle of feelings and Humanity?
